genjutsu01 asked: I was wondering, Christianity tells us to cast out evil and live our life by the ten commandments.
However Christianity has murdered millions of people, lots of them women and children, with the Crusades, Inquisition and Witch Trials, so wouldnt that make Christianity evil?
I thank you for your question. I am actually doing some studies for a University paper related to this somewhat.
the thing is, the church is primarily about this, “going” and “teaching” according to Matthew 28:19-20. Going and teaching all nations about Jesus Christ coming to die, to take our place when the WAGES OF OUR SINS WAS DEATH. That was our command as believers, unfortunately…. after some decades, while some continued to fulfill the command of Jesus (even till today) others institutionalized “Christianity” and (ab)used it and the name of Jesus for selfish desires, to dominate…and in NO WAY DID THEY HAVE A TRUE DESIRE FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW CHRIST, but instead saw themselves as better … man’s own pride got in the way… While we were supposed to help people to be freed from the bondage of sin in the name of Jesus, PEOPLE WERE PUTTING OTHERS IN BONDAGE. They encouraged forced conversion, which is not even a true conversion because their abuse of other people never allowed them to really experienced the freedom that Christ offers. They did not allow people to get to know the God of the Bible and love Him genuinely from their hearts. It is not Christianity that is evil… man who failed to submit to the same NAME that they rubber stamped on themselves are. Unfortunately, one would face the judgement for not fulfilling the primary command and instead, leading many to falsely hate the Lord. As was the case in Colonialism and slavery…. Sometimes I am saddened by it, because.. I want to see people experiencing the freedom of Christ… but getting over the history of slavery in my country..and in others the wars and so on…its a challenge… but I believe God is able to change minds and give a clearer view on the past.
Thanks again for your question.. I hope I cleared up stuff
