The Lord’s Kingdom. The Only thing that Unites Cultures
This is something I have noticed too many times. Only Jesus Christ can claim a family with people of so many different colours and languages. This is even more evident in IFES World Assembly.
I have heard the stories of Jesus penetrating the walls of communism in China. I have heard the stories of Jesus in islands that are new to me like Tonga and Fiji. I have heard of Jesus in the many sub cultures of the African nations. I have heard the stories of the desire for Jesus to be lifted up in the hearts of the nominal and spiritually passive Hispanic and other post colonial nations. There is a common person even though we have different contexts.
I was speaking to my brother from Guyana and I told him, “Events like this really gives me a glimpse of heaven. Even if we don’t understand each other completely now, in heaven, we may just know. Its good to know I have a brother from Greece, and a brother from Norway…and a brother from Guyana.” He laughed.
God’s living Kingdom is a beautiful and colourful one… I really have to do a Visual Arts piece on this truth.
